Dirty Glamour, the new EP from Duke Keats - Review

Duke Keats, born and raised in Coventry, U.K is releasing a brand-new EP called ‘Dirty Glamour ‘alongside his band in just a couple of months, 9th June 2023 to be exact!

It includes some live recordings with a varied range of styles and influences which is apparent throughout the four tracks.

The EP begins with ‘Skid Row’ which uses a combination of instruments which are repeated to create funky, rhythmic sections. It builds up slowly with more powerful drums before the vocals hit just around three minutes in. This compliments the dominant instrumentals making for a unique song.

‘Again’ bought the same talent with complex instrumentals for this next track. The guitar combined with the interesting addition of sax made for a dynamic track when layered with Keats impressive vocals and other instruments. These first two bend genres with elements of funk and jazz and also an element of alt rock too.

The second half of the EP includes longer songs of over seven minutes. ‘Fairground’ is heavily instrumental based, leaning more toward the alt rock genre. As you go through this EP, its clear that Keats vocals become more and more impressive with the ability to create different styles through his voice.

Finally, ‘Damn Dara’ ends the EP perfectly. It has a dreamlike, eerie opening with distortion as it slowly builds up to the vocals.

This EP is unique, with well crafted lyrics blending a mix of styles with something that most will enjoy.

This EP will be available internationally on all streaming platform on June 9th 2023,
